Mandatory Property Protection Coverage in Michigan
Michigan requires every vehicle registered and operated in Michigan to have automobile insurance. Three coverages are mandatory. Bodily Injury Liability coverage; Personal Injury Protection; and Property Protection, are all mandatory.
Property Protection insurance coverage pays up to $1,000,000.00 in damages your vehicle does to other people’s property such as buildings, fences, etc. Fault is not an element for someone to succeed in pursuing a claim against you. For instance, if you are sitting at a stop sign and another vehicle hits you from behind and propels your car into a building, your insurance pays for any damage to that building up to a million dollars.
